Chennai, February 17, 2026: The Tamil Nadu Golf Federation (TNGF) has officially announced the launch of the inaugural Tablets India – TNGF Premier League (TPL) 2026, a five-week team golf championship scheduled to be held from February 25 to March 25, 2026, at the iconic Cosmopolitan Club, Chennai.
In a significant boost to Tamil Nadu’s growing golfing ecosystem, the members-only championship will feature 12 competitive teams battling across five weeks in a structured team-based format. The announcement was made during an official ceremony attended by Mr. K.C. Raghunathan, Chairman of the Tablets India TNGF Premier League (TPL), along with Tournament Directors Raamasubramanian, A. Chandrasekharan, K. Sundar, Babu Dhandapani, and participating team owners.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Mr. Raghunathan emphasized the vision behind the league, stating that TPL has been conceptualized to strengthen the golfing community through structured competition while maintaining the highest standards of sportsmanship. He highlighted that beyond financial contributions from team owners, the focus remains on delivering a premium sporting experience and fostering camaraderie on and off the course.
The 2026 edition marks what is expected to become a marquee annual event in Tamil Nadu’s sporting calendar.
Tournament Format and Team Structure
The Tablets India TNGF Premier League 2026 will be played under the Rules of Golf 2023 in a Stroke Play format, operating on a Stableford scoring system. The format has been designed to ensure competitive balance and strategic depth.
Each of the 12 teams will consist of 16 players, including two mandatory picks, with the remaining 14 selected through an auction system that adds a layer of tactical planning to team formation. All participants are required to play at least one qualifying round during the championship.
Team composition has been categorized to maintain competitive parity:
- Category A: 3 players (Handicap 0–12)
- Category B: 7 players (Handicap 13–18)
- Category C: 6 players (Handicap 19–30)
A dedicated Tournament Committee will oversee operations, while TNGF Office Bearers will ensure strict adherence to the rules and fair play standards.

TNGF’s Growing Legacy
Established in 1996, the Tamil Nadu Golf Federation operates an 18-hole, par-72 course spanning 6,225 yards in the heart of Chennai. The Federation has steadily grown into one of South India’s leading golfing hubs and has hosted the Chennai leg of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) from 2022 to 2025, attracting more than 125 professional golfers from India and abroad.
