In a landmark moment for Indian-origin sports on the global stage, the Global Indian Pravasi Kabaddi League (GIPKL) made its grand debut this April in Gurugram, India, uniting players of Indian descent from across the world under one mat.
The league, which featured both men’s and women’s teams, aimed to celebrate Indian heritage, athleticism, and the growing kabaddi culture in the diaspora, offering a thrilling showcase of the sport’s traditional roots and modern-day appeal.
🌍 A Truly Global Indian League
Organized with support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the Indian Sports Federation Abroad, the GIPKL brought together over 200 players of Indian origin from countries including Canada, UK, USA, UAE, Kenya, Australia, and South Africa.

The teams were a mix of overseas professionals and local Indian talent, providing a competitive, yet culturally unifying, platform.
🏆 Champions Crowned
- 🥇 Men’s Title: Marathi Vultures, led by UK-based raider Amit Jadhav, defeated Punjabi Stallions in a thrilling final.
- 🥇 Women’s Title: Tamil Lioness, captained by Dubai-based Nandhini Rajendran, dominated the finals against Delhi Queens.
Each champion team was awarded a ₹50 lakh prize purse, along with trophies designed in the shape of a spinning chakra, symbolizing global unity.
