DC vs LSG Asuthosh Sharma stars in the game of mistakes
Delhi Capitals hosted Lucknow Super Giants in a match filled with mistakes. Which went on to become the most entertaining game of the season so far. Let’s dive deep into the game and analyse.
Lucknow surprised everyone with how they set up their team. All 4 overseas slots were alotted to the batsmen and went in with all Indian bowling attack. Delhi on the other hand went in with a very balanced line up.
With no one’s surprise Lucknow started off with a bang. Though Markram lost his wicket early, Mitchell Marsh and Pooran started to go give bangers all around the stadium. That is when we see a mistake from the DC captain Axar Patel. Captain Axar did not trust the Bowler Axar enough. When spinner like Kuldeep is doing wonders with the ball why can’t you back yourself? That was the question that kept ringing in the fans heads. Axar only bowled 3 overs and conceded just 18 runs. On top of that he also decided to bowl a part time bowler in Tristian Stubbs against in form Nicholas Pooran, who smashed 28 runs in that over. On the other hand the captain of LSG Pant came in and played 6 dots and left for a duck. Starc had to come in to clean up Pooran. And there end the LSG innings. No one came up to continue what Marsh & Pooran just built. While everyone were expecting a score of atleast 240, LSG settled for just 209.
Delhi capitals batting was as bad as their bowling. Losing 4 wickets in powerplay is never a good sign. But the Middle order batters Axar and Stubbs held the ground and started getting run quickly before getting out for 22 and 34 runs respectively. Then came the finishers in Asutosh and Nigam. You normally expect finishers to get maximum of 50-60 runs. This is where Lucknow missed an overseas bowler. Lucknow’s inecperienced bowling attack was clueless in how to bowl in the final overs. Moreover Pant missed a stumping opportunity that would’ve won them the game. Nigam and Asuthosh played a game of their lifetime to take Delhi across the finish line. End of the day 2 points gained but DC is extremely vulnerable in many areas. They should work on it or they might get exposed soon.
