Noor’s childhood-
Noor Ahmad had always dreamt of playing cricket at the highest level. Growing up in Afghanistan, he spent countless hours perfecting his spin bowling, dreaming of the day he would step onto an international field. His journey began on 29 April 2019, when he made his first-class debut for Kabul Region in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament. It was the first step in a long and promising career.
Later that year, on 8 October 2019, Noor got his first taste of Twenty20 cricket, playing for the Mis Ainak Knights in the Shpageeza Cricket League. His ability to turn the ball and deceive batsmen caught the attention of selectors. Soon enough, in December 2019, he was named in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. At just 14 years old, he was already making waves.
His talent continued to shine, and by July 2020, he found himself on a bigger stage—selected to play for St Lucia Zouks in the Caribbean Premier League. His exposure to different playing conditions and experienced cricketers only honed his skills further. A few months later, on 14 October 2020, Noor made his List A debut for Mis Ainak Region in the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament.
Then came a moment that surprised everyone. In December 2020, at just 15 years old, Noor was signed by the Melbourne Renegades for the 2020–21 Big Bash League season in Australia. It was a rare achievement for someone so young. His rise continued in March 2021 when he joined the Chennai Super Kings as a net bowler for the Indian Premier League. Soon after, in June 2021, he played for the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, further cementing his status as a rising star.
In July 2021, Noor received his biggest call-up yet—he was named in Afghanistan’s One Day International squad for a series against Pakistan. The following December, he once again represented Afghanistan in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies. His growing reputation earned him a contract with the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League, and on 12 February 2022, he made his debut against Islamabad United at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
February 2022 saw another significant moment in Noor’s journey. He was bought by the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League auction, bringing him into one of the most competitive cricket leagues in the world. His performances continued to improve, making him a sought-after player.
