The announcement was made during a high-profile Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Hockey India and the Government of Tamil Nadu held at Taj Coromandel, Chennai on June 19. The event also featured the official unveiling of the tournament logo, marking the official countdown to what will be the most inclusive edition in the tournament’s history.
🌍 A Global First — 24 Nations, Two Host Cities
The 2025 edition will be historic in scope, with 24 teams from across the globe set to participate—making it the largest and most competitive edition of the Junior Men’s World Cup to date. This is also the first time Madurai will co-host such a mega international hockey event alongside the metropolitan city of Chennai, reflecting the government’s commitment to decentralised sports development.
🏟 ₹65 Crore Investment in Infrastructure & Event Execution
To ensure the event’s grand success, the Tamil Nadu Government has sanctioned ₹65 crore, which will be spent not just on the hosting of the tournament but also on sports infrastructure development. This includes the installation of a new international-standard synthetic turf in Madurai, ensuring the southern city is fully equipped to welcome global teams and spectators.
